What you can do:

  • Keep your car locked when it is parked. Don’t make it easy for a thief to get in.
  • Do not leave items in your vehicle. Even small things like pocket change and inexpensive sunglasses are tempting to a thief. Place items in your trunk before you reach your destination.
  • If possible, park your vehicle in well-lit areas on the street.
  • If you have a garage, use it. Park in a garage whenever possible.
  • If you see suspicious activity (a person trying car doors, etc.) or a crime in progress, call 911 so officers can be dispatched to the location.
  • Report crimes by calling 911. (They may refer you to 311 to take a report.) Please call 911 if:
    • you see suspicious activity;
    • a crime is happening; or
    • you have suspect information.
  • Make a commitment to watch out for each other.
  • Practice simple crime prevention strategies to help avoid becoming a victim of crime.
