What you can do:
Keep your car locked when it is parked. Don’t make it easy for a thief to get in.
Do not leave items in your vehicle. Even small things like pocket change and inexpensive sunglasses are tempting to a thief. Place items in your trunk before you reach your destination.
If possible, park your vehicle in well-lit areas on the street.
If you have a garage, use it. Park in a garage whenever possible.
If you see suspicious activity (a person trying car doors, etc.) or a crime in progress, call 911 so officers can be dispatched to the location.
Report crimes by calling 911. (They may refer you to 311 to take a report.) Please call 911 if:
- you see suspicious activity;
- a crime is happening; or
- you have suspect information.
Make a commitment to watch out for each other.
Practice simple crime prevention strategies to help avoid becoming a victim of crime.
