Tips to help you from being a victim: One of the best steps to prevent burglary is to close your garage door and lock it. Many times during this time of year, individuals will spend time in their yards and will leave their garage door open. Please review the following tips, which may help you decrease the opportunity of burglary in your home: http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/police/crime-prevention/docs/HS-Checklis... Theft is a crime of opportunity and there are steps that you can take to decrease your chances of being a victim. Tips are available for you to review at: http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/police/crime-prevention/docs/Theft.pdf. One of the best ways to decrease crime is to have an active block club. By knowing your neighbors and working together, you can watch out for one another and report suspicious or illegal activities. Also by knowing each other, you build a community in which people know the youth on the block and provide them with support and guidance. Consider having a block club event this spring or early in the summer. Provide resources which you know are available for youth to keep them active throughout the summer. By giving youth opportunities for activities and being a positive roll model, you will build a safer community for them and for you. Let me know if there is something that I can help you and your block club with, so we can build a safer community together. Please note that the information listed in public records may be false or inaccurate, and that a margin of error may exist in the reporting, transcribing or printing of these records. If someone listed here lives near you, you may check the previous criminal history of the person at this website using his name and birth date. Many of the addresses criminals give as their residence are rental units. And many of these property owners do not do background checks before they rent to someone. In addition, many times these properties do not even have a valid rental license. If you would like to check the ownership of a property, get the contact information of the property owner, or check if it is licensed for rental, click here: http://apps.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/AddressApp/SearchByAddress.aspx?AppID=P... If you find a property that is being used as a rental but not licensed, please call 311. Information presented in this order: Booking number, Name (last/first/middle), Address of Arrestee, Date of Birth, Date and Time of Arrest, Previous Convictions if any found, Property Owner of Arrestee's Address, and Current Charges against Arrestee. Make sure you let the property owners know your concern about them housing criminals next door to you. Please don't let them get away with profiting at your expense. Send them a letter! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- =========================================== =================== April 20, 2009 2009011227 CHAPMAN, THOMAS DARNELL 6/6/1981 217 NE TYLER STREET, MINNEAPOLIS, MN 55418 4/20/2009 12:28 (Previous Convictions: None Found) 2009011281 PREESE, SEAN DAVID 10/29/1965 2204 GARFIELD ST NE, MINNEAPOLIS, MN 55418 4/20/2009 21:49 (Previous Convictions: ; Disorderly Conduct) 2009011219 WILSON, DARNELL NATASHA 7/3/1983 1922 JEFFERSON ST NE, MINNEAPOLIS, MN 55413 4/20/2009 11:16 (Previous Convictions: Drugs-5th Degree, Theft (4); Check Forgery-Offer a Forged Check, Theft. The 2nd Precinct CLEAN sheet gives names, pictures and other information about the Eastside's top 13 problem people. At the top of the CLEAN sheet gives information on how people get selected for placement here. The purpose of the list is to keep the public informed as to the custodial, probationary and warrant statuses of our area's chronic livability offenders. The inclusion of photos will also allow people to associate names with faces and assist in our efforts to gather community impact statements for court. Remember that the people on the list are not necessarily wanted by the police and citizens should not call 911 on those individuals without active warrants. Here is the link to view the latest CLEAN sheet. ----------------------------------------------- New MPD officer feedback tool offered online The Minneapolis Police Department has created a new online form that makes it very easy for the public to share their feedback, positive or negative, on police officers and the work they do. The MPD is constantly striving to lead the way in law enforcement service and is committed to being a department that serves with integrity and honor. Chief Tim Dolan is pleased with the new accessibility and states that "the largest key to earning our citizens' trust and support is being accessible, transparent in our operations, and accountable to the public. This new medium for feedback, along with squad cameras, supervisory oversight of pursuits and use of force reviews, makes us much more accountable. These tools have aided in reducing injuries and the associated costs to both officers and arrestees." The department encourages the public to share information on notable efforts by officers, as well as complaints of potential misconduct. Having this information allows the MPD to more accurately assess officer performance and make necessary changes more quickly. The web page allows people to submit compliments for officers or department units they believe have done exceptional work. Any compliments shared by the public will go to the Office of the Chief of Police. They will be placed in the officer's permanent personnel file and could even result in an award from the Chief. Police Chief Dolan is dedicated to commending his officers and reinforcing good police work, and this new tool helps make that possible. It's also critical that the MPD hears about potential misconduct. In Minneapolis, complaints can go to either the Minneapolis Police Department's Internal Affairs Unit or the Minneapolis Civil Rights Civilian Police Review Authority. The online tool allows Web visitors to file complaints with either of those offices. For more information on submitting a compliment or a complaint, visit http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/forms/mpd-citizen-report/ FREE 12-point Security Check of your Home He has offered to give everyone in NE and SE a 12-point home security check at no charge. These statements are submitted to city/county attorneys or other appropriate officials to help the courts make decisions about sentences for offenders convicted of the crimes. Impact statements may provide information that will not be found in police reports. Who can write a statement? When I have an opportunity to submit a Community Impact Statement on a crime or an arrestee, how do I find out? If you are signed up for the email crime alert program from the Minneapolis Police Department, your Crime Prevention Specialist will occasionally send information about individuals with open cases and will direct you to the City Attorney's website to complete a community impact statement on a misdemeanor crime or the County Attorney's website to complete a community impact statement on a felony. You may also go to the city and county attorneys' websites and review the information. The City Attorney's webpage is at: The County Attorney's webpage is at: http://www.hennepinattorney.org/cpMapMinneapolisNeighborhood.aspx?prec=2 The Hennepin County Attorney's website also allows you to provide feedback on crime in your community, not connecting the information to a specific case. To sign up for the email crime alerts from the Police Department: http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/police/crimealert/signup.asp When you sign up, you will receive information on community impact statements along with crime alerts, seasonal tips, highlights in the police department, and notices about safety programs in your neighborhood. You will receive about 1 - 2 emails each week. What type of cases may I submit a statement about? The City Attorney's system contains only misdemeanor cases prosecuted by the City of Minneapolis. Most of the cases involve livability issues such as: Consuming in public, public urination, loitering with intent to buy or sell narcotics, lurking, and disorderly conduct. The Hennepin County system contains information about felony cases such as: Murder, Felony drug possession, Felony property cases, Weapons, Property Damage. Hard Copy of Impact Statement.
