Thugs 5; Soft Targets 0

With the short-term economic picture becoming increasingly hopeless, we might expect to suffer more of this:

Minneapolis Police are investigating whether a rash of overnight armed robberies are related.

Investigators said seven people were robbed in five separate incidents early Sunday morning. All the robberies took place between 12:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. in south Minneapolis. [Note: one happened on the Eastside, near Augsburg] Most happened within 15 minute intervals.

In most of the cases police said the victims were either walking or getting out of a car when they were approached by two men carrying a gun. Investigators said the men made off with cell phones, wallets, purses and cash.

Police believe the suspects are in their twenties and were driving a minivan.

Recall that Michael Zebuhr, the young man murdered in Uptown in 2006, was the victim of a similar incident. He responded as the cops tell us to:

Zebuhr was walking with his mother March 18 in the popular entertainment district when the pair was assaulted by two robbers. They did not resist, but Zebuhr was shot in the head.

Those who prefer not being shot in the head by desperate mutants should consider a different response. Despite what we are told, police cannot protect your life against such an act. They can only try to catch the bad guys after you’re dead.

And despite what the Attorney General and the current President tell us, depriving the people of effective self-defense will not reduce violence. Criminals are not bound by gun control laws. The bad guys will always be armed. We can choose either to be afraid, or to be prepared.
