New Year Start with Garage Burglaries in Audubon and Windom Park ==================== Don’t move – Improve! —John Schulte ------------------------------------------------------------------- I want to remind everyone that we will be sending out the newsletter every other week for the winter. However, we will have constant updates on www.EastsideDefender.com so visit any time you want. If you have any crime/safety related news, links, etc., please send them to me for posting or sending out in this newsletter. Onward! Please note that the information listed in public records may be false or inaccurate, and that a margin of error may exist in the reporting, transcribing or printing of these records. If someone listed here lives near you, you may check the previous criminal history of the person at this website using his name and birth date. Many of the addresses criminals give as their residence are rental units. And many of these property owners do not do background checks before they rent to someone. In addition, many times these properties do not even have a valid rental license. If you would like to check the ownership of a property, get the contact information of the property owner, or check if it is licensed for rental, click here: http://apps.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/AddressApp/SearchByAddress.aspx?AppID=P... If you find a property that is being used as a rental but not licensed, please call 311. Information presented in this order: Booking number, Name (last/first/middle), Address of Arrestee, Date of Birth, Date and Time of Arrest, Previous Convictions if any found, Property Owner of Arrestee‚’ Address, and Current Charges against Arrestee. Make sure you let the property owners know your concern about them housing criminals next door to you. Please don’t let them get away with profiting at your expense. Send them a letter! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: When a date says ‚”No arrests to report,” it does not necessarily mean there were no arrests that day for our area. It only means we could not find them. This happens mostly when a criminal lies to police and gives a bad address, or a data entry mistake for the zip code. The 2nd Precinct CLEAN sheet gives names, pictures and other information about the Eastside‚’ top 13 problem people. At the top of the CLEAN sheet gives information on how people get selected for placement here. The purpose of the list is to keep the public informed as to the custodial, probationary and warrant statuses of our area's chronic livability offenders. The inclusion of photos will also allow people to associate names with faces and assist in our efforts to gather community impact statements for court. Remember that the people on the list are not necessarily wanted by the police and citizens should not call 911 on those individuals without active warrants. Here is the link to view the latest CLEAN sheet. ----------------------------------------------- You can also post any other safety issue under ‚”Safety Stuff” in the classifieds. Second Precinct Committee (2PAC) meetings are held at 6:00 pm on the second Monday of every month at Monroe Village, 1900 Central Avenue N.E. It is located directly across the street from the Central Avenue Second Precinct. You may also park in the Second Precinct parking lot. If you know of such a doctor that may volunteer their time, please let me know. john@nepatrol.org Community Impact Statements: Community Impact Statements are descriptions of the impact that a crime or crime pattern has had on the people who live, work, and visit where it occurred. These statements are submitted to city/county attorneys or other appropriate officials to help the courts make decisions about sentences for offenders convicted of the crimes. Impact statements may provide information that will not be found in police reports. Who can write a statement? When I have an opportunity to submit a Community Impact Statement on a crime or an arrestee, how do I find out? If you are signed up for the email crime alert program from the Minneapolis Police Department, your Crime Prevention Specialist will occasionally send information about individuals with open cases and will direct you to the City Attorney‚’ website to complete a community impact statement on a misdemeanor crime or the County Attorney‚’ website to complete a community impact statement on a felony. You may also go to the city and county attorneys’ websites and review the information. The City Attorney‚’ webpage is at: The County Attorney‚’ webpage is at: http://www.hennepinattorney.org/cpMapMinneapolisNeighborhood.aspx?prec=2 The Hennepin County Attorney‚’ website also allows you to provide feedback on crime in your community, not connecting the information to a specific case. To sign up for the email crime alerts from the Police Department: http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/police/crimealert/signup.asp When you sign up, you will receive information on community impact statements along with crime alerts, seasonal tips, highlights in the police department, and notices about safety programs in your neighborhood. You will receive about 1 - 2 emails each week. What type of cases may I submit a statement about? The City Attorney‚’ system contains only misdemeanor cases prosecuted by the City of Minneapolis. Most of the cases involve livability issues such as: Consuming in public, public urination, loitering with intent to buy or sell narcotics, lurking, and disorderly conduct. The Hennepin County system contains information about felony cases such as: Murder, Felony drug possession, Felony property cases, Weapons, Property Damage. Hard Copy of Impact Statement.
