Public’s Help Needed to Stop Robbery/Assault Suspects Near the University of Minnesota

April 28, 2011 (MINNEAPOLIS) The Minneapolis Police Department Robbery/Assault Unit is seeking information concerning several suspects involved in a series of robbery of person and assaults that have occurred near campus.

We have reason to believe that the same suspects are possibly involved in the following incidents:

° 8th St and 14th Av Southeast, February 20, 2011, 3:25 a.m. (11-048161).
° 5th St and 14th Av Southeast, February 20, 2011, 4:00 p.m. (11-049562).
° 5th St and 12th Av Southeast, April 19, 2011, 11:45 p.m. (11-107251).
° 7th St and 12th Av Southeast, April 28, 2011, 12:20 a.m. (11-115828).

In the above incidents, the suspects are described as Hispanic males. In one case, a Hispanic female was identified also. In another case the suspect’s used a “dark colored sedan” to leave the area.

All suspects were 18 to 25 years old. In the most recent case, the victim described the Hispanic males all dressed in similar clothing, described as black zippered hooded sweatshirts with white tee shirts underneath and black pants.

One suspect was described as heavy set with a shaved head and an unshaven face. He had acne or pock marks on his face as well. Another suspect was described being shorter than the first suspect and having a thin build and a fresh military style hair cut. There was nothing further on the third suspect. At this time no weapons were seen, however it appears that the suspects are becoming more brazen.

Anybody who can help us identify these suspects or who knows any information about any of these cases is strongly encouraged to call the Minneapolis Police Department Robbery/Assault Unit at 612-673-2941 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

The PIO contact for this release is Sergeant Stephen McCarty.
