How to find problem people and landlords on your block.

Do you want to know the criminals getting arrested on your block, and the name of the landlord that rents to them?

Here’s how you can do it and post it on the NECP Facebook page for all to know about.

Step one: Go to the Hennepin county jail booking webpage: http://www4.co.hennepin.mn.us/webbooking/
On the right side of the page see “Search by Custody Status” under “Type of Record:” check “Received by Jail” Then put the date you want to search. It could be one day or a week. (More than that and you get a very large list.)

You will see all the people booked into jail during that time, with their full name, date of birth, address, and booking number. (If you click on the booking number, you will see why they were arrested.) Look for addresses near you, or simply look for your zip code.

Step two: Copy the address of the arrested person and go here: http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/propertyinfo/ and click on “PropertyInfo Look-Up Service” and copy the address into the search box. You will then get back who owns the property, their address, if it has a rental license, etc.

Step three: If the property owner name and the arrested person does not match, it likely means the person is renting there; and if there is no rental license you can report this to 311.

Step four: Post all the info on the NECP Facebook page. Arrested person, the address he’s living at, and property owner’s name.
