I live in the Audubon neighborhood, close to Windom Park.Last night about 8:45 PM, just when it got very dark, my husband and I were home and we had our front door open, screen door latched because our cat was in a carrier on the porch. A young, very attractive, well-dressed black woman knocked at the door and was quite aggressive about being let in the house because her cell phone needed re-charging and she was trying to find an elderly aunt who lived in the area. She had no phone #, no address and had a small, boutique style dog with her. I was watching a movie and suddenly my husband grabs the cat in carrier, closes the screen door, latches it and insist she bring her little dog to the car that was hidden behind the hedges on the dark street. He gets the phone book, but she still wants to come in the house to "charge up the phone" He says he will dial the phone number and suddenly she sees him with the phone and races back to the car and sped off. He called the police but they didn't seem too interested. So this is an alert for NE Mpls. I am sure there was someone else waiting in the car, and all she needed to do was call (him/them) on her cell once she gained access to our house. The car was parked so we could not tell make, model, much less license plate #. Neither or our neighbors on both sides were home, so this must have looked like a good opportunity. Never open your door to a stranger. Send your crime reports/alerts to John Schulte john@nepatrol.org so I can post them here for all. Thank you. |
