Roseville Burglars Expanding Operations

The StarTribune reports a rash of daytime burglaries may be spreading:

Roseville Police have not been able to catch the perpetrators responsible for a rash of daytime residential burglaries in the past three months, but they at least have a vague idea who is committing the crimes.

Still, police said they need more to go on if they are to catch the culprits who are believed to be responsible for breaking into up to 20 homes since June.

The burglars might also be hitting homes in neighboring communities, said Sarah Mahmud, a crime analyst for the Roseville Police Department.

In nearly all the burglaries, the suspects gained entry to homes by going through unlocked doors, windows or garages. In some case they also forced open doors and windows. Nearly all the burglaries happened during daylight hours when homeowners were away, Mahmud said.

One witness described the suspects as black men between 25 and 30 years old. One of the men is about 6 feet tall, 180-200 pounds with short black hair. He was wearing a gray sweatshirt over a white t-shirt in one of the heists.

The other man was about 5 feet 10 inches, 180 pounds and bald. He was wearing a black sweatshirt, white t-shirt and blue jeans.

"We would love to put an end to these burglaries," Mahmud said. "We are seeking the community's assistance to report suspicious behavior."
