I agree. This state has
I agree. This state has made DWI offenders the responsiblity of bar tenders and restaurant owners. Why shouldn't other alchohol induced offenses (including loitering, public nuisance, exposure, etc) be allowed to become the responsiblity of the businesses and individuals who advocate them?
The only card Gabby's has to
The only card Gabby's has to play right now is the "race" card. Try to cast the residents, city council, and police as racially motivated. The simple truth is, this is about the actions and behavior of the patrons after they leave the bar.
It does not matter what color the problem people are...they are simply a problem. And residents are sick and tired of living in fear and turmoil twice each week.
If these were country western cowboys causing the problems, the residents would still be fighting for their right to be living in peace and safety.
Let me make one analogy. If I have a big kegger party at my house twice a week and have dozens of people over, and at two in the morning they all leave my house, and stumble down my block and vandalize your car, hit and run your car, steal things from your yard, urinate and defecate on your sidewalk, throw glasses, bottles and other trash in your yard, turn up their stereo's and hang in front of your house with music blaring until four...etc., who are you going to come after? Who's fault is it?
Can I really say it's not my fault? I invited them here...I supplied the location for excessive boozing, and I then say...hey, it's not my fault they do criminal things to you after they leave my house. That's bull, and you know it. The neighbors, cops and city would be on me faster than stink on Limburger cheese.
And also, if there is not a problem, why is there over 1,600 people on Gabby's trespass list and banned from being in the bar anymore, as reported in the Northeaster? Think about that for a second.
